Tiree Tapestry Group was formed on 9th February 2011 with four aims and objectives:

  1. To bring members of the community together to share and exchange ideas, skills, information and techniques to increase creative knowledge of textile crafts.
  2. To provide a social opportunity for members of the community on Tiree to participate in textile craft practices.
  3. To work as a group to plan and implement community textile projects.
  4. To keep traditional textile crafts and skills alive by progressing with the times and trying new techniques and ideas.

The first community meeting was held on 11th March 2011 – you can read a report of the meeting here.

The group was supported by a grant from the Tiree Community Development Trust Windfall Fund.
