Tiree Tapestry Group was formed on 9th February 2011 with four aims and objectives:
- To bring members of the community together to share and exchange ideas, skills, information and techniques to increase creative knowledge of textile crafts.
- To provide a social opportunity for members of the community on Tiree to participate in textile craft practices.
- To work as a group to plan and implement community textile projects.
- To keep traditional textile crafts and skills alive by progressing with the times and trying new techniques and ideas.
The first community meeting was held on 11th March 2011 – you can read a report of the meeting here.
The group was supported by a grant from the Tiree Community Development Trust Windfall Fund.
